How to Successfully Transfer a Purchased Reddit Account

Recently bought a Reddit account or thinking of buying one? Whether you’re a complete beginner or a Reddit ninja, this guide can help you understand the best practices of transferring a Reddit account to a new owner while minimizing the risk of account suspension.

Finding Your Account Information

If you purchased an account on our account marketplace, head to the marketplace page and click on the “Purchased” tab on the account table. You’ll see a table listing all of your purchased accounts; click the downward arrow at the end of any row to expand that row and reveal the account’s information.

Verify the Account’s Status Before Logging In

All marketplace accounts are verified to be active accounts by the BuyUpvotes team before being listed on the marketplace. However, you should manually check the account’s status by visiting the account’s profile page available at:

If the account is suspended, contact support immediately. Do not login to the suspended account. If you login first, our team will have no way to verify that the account was already suspended before you accessed the account and no refund or replacement will be provided.

If the account is active: Proceed to log in.

Some accounts will require a password reset immediately after being accessed. This is an anti-spam measure that Reddit takes to protect your account. You can find the email associated with the Reddit acount in the account settings and access it at www.fakemailgenerator.com.

Logging In & Avoiding Suspensions

There are a few different methods that you can use to access your newly purchased account. If you have less than 4 or 5 Reddit accounts and don’t plan on purchasing or creating more accounts in the future, it’s best to completely avoid the use of a proxy and use your personal internet connection instead . Your home/office Wifi or your mobile internet will work just fine in this instance unless you live in a country that limits or filters your internet access. Reddit is very sensitive to proxy usage and it is safer to use your personal network, even if you have experienced account suspensions on your personal network in the past! Reddit never bans an entire network so if you carefully follow the steps below, your new account will not get suspended.

Option A: Without a Proxy (Your personal Wifi or mobile network)

Clear Cookies & Cache: Reddit “links” accounts together who login on the same browser or mobile app. This means that these accounts get associated to one owner and if one gets suspended, so do the rest. To avoid your new account from being “linked” to any other accounts you might have used in the past you can clear Reddit’s cookies and cache before logging in to the new account. This applies to all browsers and all Reddit apps. On a mobile phone, you can clear the Reddit app’s data and cache on mobile by simply deleting it and reinstalling the app. To clear your Reddit browser cookies on Google Chrome, follow the instructions below:

Separate Browsers for Separate Accounts: If you’re already using one account on Chrome, use another browser (e.g., Firefox) for the new account. Accounts used in the same browser are “linked”, so one ban affects all “linked” accounts. If you keep your accounts logged in on separate browsers they will not be “linked” to each other and if one gets banned the other will stay active.
Mobile Apps: If using the Reddit app on Android or iOS, reinstall the app before logging into a new account. Otherwise, the new account will be “linked” to the old account and if the old account was suspended, the new one will get suspended as well. Accounts that are simultaneously logged in on one Reddit app are also “linked” together forever and if one gets banned than so will the others.
Anti-Detect Browsers: Consider using an anti-detect browser like Adspower to automatically manage your browser details like the browser’s proxy, cookies and cache for you. Create a unique profile for each account and only access the account from that profile. Keep in mind that the settings of an anti-detect browser must be properly chosen to avoid detection by Reddit. Option B: With a Proxy

Check Proxy Quality: Reddit is extremely sensitive to proxy quality. Test your proxy on pixelscan.net to ensure it’s not easily flagged.
Consistency & Rotation: Avoid low-quality rotating residential proxies that frequently change IP mid-session, as this can trigger a suspension. Most rotating residential proxies cannot guarantee a minimum rotation time, and most static residential proxies are low-quality. No VPNs: Do not access Reddit with a VPN; most VPNs can be easily detected and will likely cause account suspension.

Warming Up the Account

First 3 or 4 Days: Simply browse, join new subreddits and upvote/downvote posts but don’t make any comments or posts during this period.

After 3 or 4 Days: You can gradually start making comments on posts. If your new account doesn't have much karma, you won't be able to comment on some subreddits due to their minimum-karma policies. Here's a list of beginner-friendly subreddits that low-karma accounts can comment and post in. Slowly increase your account's activity over the following days. Change the account’s password and email once it’s stable. Avoid posting links until the account has been “warmed up” for at least 6 or 7 days.

After a week or two: You can gradually start to make posts or comments containing links.

It is best to take as much time as you can afford to warm up a newly transferred account. This will help prevent account suspension but does not guarantee that the new account won’t be suspended (yes, we know, using Reddit can be frustrating).
